Hello and welcome to my blog! It’s great to have you here, so let me introduce myself and tell you a little bit more about my background and why I love to blog!

I’m a forty something Mum to my seven-year-old Daughter Amelia and Wife to David. I moved to Ealing more than 15 years ago, I’m originally from Suffolk. My blog begun life back in 2016 when I started my social media management course with Digital Mums. I decided a couple of years after the birth of my Daughter that I wanted to re-train and be able to work from home and do something that was a bit more creative. That’s when I discovered the world of social media and blogging.

My blog and associated social media accounts started off as a grass roots campaign where I could practice and refine the skills I was learning with Digital Mums. When I graduated from my course in 2017, I realised that I wanted to continue my blog, as I had enjoyed writing it so much. So The Ealing Mummy was born!

I have a medical background in Nursing and I have worked in the NHS for the past twenty-one years. At the moment I still work as a Locum Practice Nurse in various GP surgeries a couple of days a week. I would like to use my medical knowledge to help other parents. As I know as parents we regularly face much stress when our children are unwell, or we are anxious about what they are or are not doing! I also want to talk about some of the health issues we experience as parents and I have a particular interest in mental health. As I suffered with post-natal depression and anxiety following the birth of my Daughter.

Since Blogging I have been lucky enough to work with both local businesses and some well-known brands too! I was asked to be the Official Blogger for The Ealing Broadway Shopping Centre and worked in partnership with them for two years.

I have written for the Ealing magazine The Line, which has now become Make It Ealing.  I have even appeared on live television for the BBC programme Victoria Derbyshire, where I discussed why I was considering leaving the NHS for a job in Social Media. As it turns out I have decided that I would like to continue my work as a Practice Nurse in Primary Care. This is because I find that working in healthcare keeps me grounded and I enjoy having a job that includes face to face interaction. In the past I have worked from home a lot and it can be very isolating.

I also run the other arm of my business, which provides social media strategy and training to brands and businesses. I am a certified Digital Mum – Train the Trainer and run face to face course on various topics relating to social media. If you want to know more about how I could help your business take a look at my website The Social Debutante.

So that’s me! I hope you enjoy reading my blog and please do reach out and get in touch. I enjoy hearing from my readers and followers!
